Player Registration

One checklist from roster offer to fully registered. We will tell you what applies to your player.

New Player Checklist

You do not have to figure this out alone.

Registration is intentionally short. Some Umoja families need a simple process because of language, email, or technology barriers. Other families want to see every step. This page does both.

Start here after a player has been offered a place with Umoja. Not every step below applies to every player. If something is required, Umoja will tell you and help you complete it.
Optional

Mark things off as you go.

Your checks stay only in this browser. Umoja does not receive or store them.

01

Complete Umoja registration in PlayMetrics

This is Umoja's short family registration. It collects the information we actually need and includes acceptance of the current Participant Registration Agreement.

Everyone
  • Confirm player and parent/guardian information.
  • Provide current emergency and medical information requested in registration.
  • Accept the Participant Registration Agreement.

If a parent does not use email, needs language help, or wants assistance completing registration, contact Umoja. We can help without turning registration into a technology test.

02

Complete US Club Soccer player requirements

Umoja handles the club-side registration in GotSport. Families complete the player items that apply to them.

Everyone has at least one item

Form R002 — every player. The parent/guardian of a minor player, or the adult player, completes US Club Soccer Form R002.

  • Electronic option: Umoja can send the R002 requirement through GotSport.
  • Paper option: Complete a paper copy and return it to Umoja. We keep the signed form on file and certify it in GotSport. This option is available when email or online completion is not practical.
2026–27 SafeSport requirement: Youth players born on or before July 31, 2009 must complete the applicable SafeSport Core or Refresher course. A player who is still under 18 completes it with parental consent. Adult players rostered with minor athletes may also be required to complete it.

For those same applicable players, Umoja completes the required Sex Offender Registry / Adverse Eligibility List review certification. This is handled by Umoja. US Club Soccer does not require criminal background screening of minor players.

Proof of birth: US Club Soccer requires one-time proof-of-birth verification for youth competitive players. A family may upload the document, or Umoja can assist with the upload.

03

Complete U.S. Soccer international registration, if needed

Players born outside the United States may have an additional registration or clearance step. The exact pathway depends on the player's circumstances.

If applicable

Use Umoja's International Clearance Center first. It will point you toward the likely registration or clearance pathway and the documents to gather. Umoja submits and tracks the case.

04

Set up financial support, if your family needs it

The published program price is the same starting point for every family. Financial support is handled separately so cost does not become the thing keeping a player off the field.

If needed

If your family needs a scholarship or support with participation costs, complete that process separately. It does not change the player's soccer evaluation or team placement.

05

Umoja confirms the player is ready

Once all applicable requirements are complete, Umoja finalizes the US Club Soccer registration, passcard, and roster work.

Final step

You do not need to chase GotSport statuses yourself. Umoja will contact you if something is missing and will confirm when the player's registration is complete.

US Club Soccer requires a player to be fully registered before participating in US Club Soccer-sanctioned activities, so wait for Umoja's confirmation before assuming the player is cleared for team participation.

No Email? No Problem.

We can use paper where the rules allow it.

R002 can be completed on paper and kept on file by Umoja. If a family needs help with a digital requirement, contact us and we will work through the process with them.

What Umoja Handles

We do the registrar work.

Umoja purchases and tracks the US Club Soccer registration, handles the applicable eligibility-list review, certifies paper R002 forms, submits international-clearance cases, and manages the final passcard and roster process.

2026–27 US Club Soccer requirements shown on this page were checked against the current US Club Soccer Player Registration guidance. Requirements can change by registration year; Umoja will follow the current rule if a governing-body requirement changes.
